Prepare and review your LinkedIn posts.

Prepare a considered version for your profile or company page.

Write for the account you mean

Choose the profile or company page and review the version in that context before scheduling.

Formats, limits and results

See the supported formats, text and media limits, required settings, platform-only features and available metrics below. These details come from the same capability data the editor uses.

Confirm the version you intend to share

A person confirms publishing by default. A workspace owner can explicitly enable auto-publish for a particular agent in a particular workspace.

Current access

Limited

Company pages are waiting for LinkedIn to approve our Community Management API access, which LinkedIn reviews by hand. Personal profiles work now; posts for pages go to the post kit until then.

Account types: profile, page

LinkedIn profile: Post as yourself, from your personal LinkedIn profile.

LinkedIn company page: Post as a company page you're an admin or content admin of.

What stays in the platform app

  • LinkedIn has no way to schedule a post ahead of time through its API. heyeveryone holds the post and publishes it at the chosen time.
  • Tagging people or pages. LinkedIn's API doesn't support @-mentions from personal profiles, so an @name is posted as plain text. Add tags in LinkedIn after the post is live.

impressions, likes, comments, shares, clicks.

Availability varies by account and format. A missing number is not zero.

More to know

  • No thread format: LinkedIn has no chain of posts by the same author. The closest thing is resharing your own post.
  • The 3,000 character limit comes from the older UGC Post API docs; the Posts API page only documents a FIELD_LENGTH_TOO_LONG error without a number.
  • Image max size unconfirmed: the docs only say an image must be under 36,152,320 pixels, and a GIF up to 250 frames. The adapter checks the pixel limit.
  • Video max size: the video spec says 75 KB to 500 MB (the upload schema allows 5 GB); length 3 seconds to 30 minutes. The adapter rejects videos under 75 KB and warns above 500 MB.
  • Multi-image posts (MultiImage API) take 2 to 20 images.
  • Alt text (up to 4,086 characters, under 120 recommended) is confirmed for images, not for video. A link card's thumbnail has no alt text.
  • Text (commentary) is optional on image, video and link posts. The Posts API does not scrape links: a link post's title, description and thumbnail come from us.
  • No native scheduling: heyeveryone publishes at the scheduled time.
  • No idempotency key and no documented duplicate check on the Posts API; the older UGC API rejected the same text within 10 minutes as a duplicate.
  • Access tokens last 60 days. LinkedIn only gives refresh tokens to approved partners (365 days, not extended by refreshing), so without one the account must be reconnected before the token expires.
  • Personal profiles: LinkedIn doesn't let a posting-only token read back an image's processing status or list the member's posts (r_member_social is closed), so an unconfirmed profile post falls back to asking you, and heyeveryone can't confirm a profile image finished processing.
  • Post results: company pages through share statistics (needs a page ADMINISTRATOR); personal profiles only with r_member_postAnalytics, which comes with the Community Management API.
  • Community Management API (company pages) must be requested on its own new developer app with no other products; Development tier first (500 calls per app, 100 per member a day), then Standard with a screencast.
  • Rate limits are not published for the Posts API; the older Share on LinkedIn docs give 150 posts per member and 100,000 per app a day.
  • Polls exist for organic posts through a separate Poll API that was not checked; not treated as a format.

Questions and answers

Can I use every feature in the platform app?
No. Platform APIs expose only some features. The format guide identifies what you need to finish manually.
